KnowHow 2.5 has five broad functional areas, namely:
Learner Functions
Administrator Functions
Evaluation Functions
Creating evaluations
Reporting
Other KnowHow Features
Learner Functions
Each learner has a unique log on, linked to an individualised training profile.
Each learner accesses an individualised My Learning module, where a high-level overview of his or her training programme is displayed.
Learners can search for specific learning material by keyword, via KnowHow's search function.
Learners can access transaction-specific help in KnowHow directly from SAP, via a customised SAP Help menu.
A Message Board function provides learners with a job role-specific public Q&A facility
The Chat function provides learners with an opportunity for real-time, on-line, job role-specific chatting.
Learners can customise their learning space using KnowHow's Favourites function.
Administrator Functions
Administrators can log and maintain various kinds of learning resources in the system (e.g. business process overviews, existing documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), simulated transaction lessons and on-line quizzes).
Administrators can specify expiry dates or periods for resources. This ensures that learners' training profiles are kept up to date.
Administrators can assign a pass mark to a tutorial set. This pass mark is defined by the client.
A weighted percentage can be assigned to each resource in the tutorial set. This weighting allows us to determine how much credit a user earns by accessing or completing a particular resource.
Administrators can publish messages and expiry messages for a particular tutorial set. Messages are displayed in the messages section of the Home page for all users that have access to the tutorial set.
Evaluation Functions
Levels of evaluation
Our E1 Implementation Methodology includes four levels of evaluation. These levels of evaluation are:
Level 1 Reaction to Training
Level 2 Evaluating Learning
Level 3 Evaluating Behaviour
Level 4 Evaluating Results
Users submit Level 1 - Reaction to Training - per tutorial, via KnowHow's feedback functionality. Results are stored in the KnowHow database.
Level 2 evaluation - evidence of new learning - is handled via KnowHow's built-in monitoring functionality. Leaners' results for on-line assessments and simulation lessons are stored in the KnowHow database.
Level 3 evaluation - behaviour change - is handled via KnowHow's built-in on-line evaluation forms. Level 3 evaluation results are stored in the KnowHow database.
We perform Level 4 evaluation - business results - using a combination of system status checks, KnowHow database reports and interviews with targeted managers and users.
Creating evaluations
Quizzes and evaluation forms are created directly in the KnowHow database. This allows the KnowHow administrator or any user/s assigned by the administrator to create these evaluations.
Questions can be created for different evaluation purposes namely Quizzes, Feedback and Manager's Evaluation.
We can also specify a difficulty level for the question (e.g Easy, Medium or Hard).
A bank of questions is created and a subset of all or some of the questions is randomly presented in a quiz.
The question format can be any of the following:
True/ False
Multiple Choice
Text Entry
Matching Pair, i.e., dragging and dropping targets onto matching objects
A combination of these question types, e.g., True and False and Text Entry can also be used, which is particularly useful for eliciting the reasoning behind users responses
Manager Functionality
Designated users can manage user training for a particular job role.
Designated users can manage the progress of particular users under their supervision, irrespective of job role.
Reporting
Reports are parameter driven, and are available in the following formats:
Html
Pdf
Excel
There are three broad report types:
User Reports: detailed and summary reports are available with numerous permuations depending on user selections.
Manager Reports: detailed and summary reports on the progress of managed users are available, with numerous permuations depending on user selections.
Administration Reports: detailed reports on access, progress and evaluation results are

Content Mirroring
Current KnowHow infrastructure allows for a localized content option. This option allows us to serve KnowHow content from local servers rather than from the central KnowHow server, which improves the end user's experience. KnowHow includes content-mirroring functionality that allows us to mirror and synchronize content across all KnowHow servers at a client site.
Resource History
A history of the various accesses and scores for a particular resource can be displayed.
